An original-setting campaign using the Marvel Universe Rolplaying Game rules, published by Marvel Comics and designed by QED Games.
The Premise
Newport, along the Atlantic Coast, is bright, bold, forward-looking, home to high-tech industries, a thriving port and a handful of modern marvels with incredible powers who protect it and the world around it. River City is in the interior end of the same state, athwart a confluence. Dingy, trapped in its past, home to old money, new poverty and rusted factories, it too has its protectors and predators. The protectors take on the coloration of their environment; the predators are as likely to glow with a livid gleam.
Our real-life models might be some Boston and Pittsburgh of the mind. Our literary models are obvious. Our geography would be analogous to Baltimore and Cumberland or Newport News and Roanoke.
The Heroes
Players each create a Newport character and a River City character. There is an alliance, the Aegis, containing heroes from both groups, with possible tension between the two approaches. There is of course a whole world around them that comes into play, but the two foci order the campaign. The PCs are among the first superbeings the world has known.
